CALLING ALL Yellowknife, NWT, Canada HABITANTS!?
Hey, thanks for clicking on this. I'll be doing a two week visit to Yellowknife, and want to know what type of sale that are there. Lasenza? The source? Stitches? Bluenotes? etc, etc, etc. please list em ', thanks! Um, no, no help. I was looking for retail, no geographic location Yellowknife, or concerning the mines.
Yellowknife (2006 Population: 18,700) is the capital of Canada's Northwest Territories (NWT). It lies on the north shore of Great Slave Lake, about 400 kilometers (250 miles) south of the Circle Arctic on the west side of Yellowknife Bay near the mouth of the Yellowknife River. Yellowknife and its surrounding waterbodies were named after of local Yellowknives Dene First Nation, which make the tools of regional copper deposits. The current population is ethnically mixed. Of the eleven official languages languages Northwest Territories, five are spoken in significant numbers in Yellowknife: Chipewyan, Dogrib, South and North Slave, English and French. In the Dogrib language, the city is known as Somba K'e ( "where's the money"). Yellowknife was founded in 1935, after gold was found in the area; Yellowknife soon became the center of economic development activity in the Northwest Territories, and became the capital of the Northwest Territories in 1967. As production Gold began to wane, Yellowknife gone from being a mining town became a center of government services in the 1980s. But with the recent discovery of diamonds north of Yellowknife, this shift has begun to reverse.
